The Major Food Groups As
Outlined In MyPyramid

MyPyramid Defines the Major Food Groups

In 2005, the Food Guide Pyramid received a face lift, a name change, and a new concept was introduced:

ONE SIZE DOESN'T FIT ALL

The new concept includes personalized eating plans and interactive tools. MyPyramid is intended to help people make smarter food choices, find balance between what they eat and their activity level, and learn how to maintain a healthy amount of calorie intake with the best possible nutrients.

  1. Grains
  2. Vegetables
  3. Fruits
  4. Dairy
  5. Meats and Beans

MyPyramid also offers tips and suggestions in 2 areas:
  1. Balance between food and physical activity.
  2. Limitations on fats, sugars, and salt.
